1999 Ibis Spanky

This Ibis Spanky is a special bike. It is an American steel race bike with a responsive and buttery smooth ride. It was hand built in Sebastopol CA, USA when Ibis was a smaller operation and a small team of craftsmen built every bike. If you have ever looked for one, you know they are rare and don’t come up for sale very often.

The frame on this bike is in perfect condition. The major components are original and in excellent condition as well. The Chris King hubs purr and the Dura Ace components work flawlessly.

The frame has the superb workmanship that classic Ibis bikes are known for. Take a close look at the primary welds in the photos. The color is a deep, deep blue with slight hints of metallic. The photos show the color well but it looks almost black in some lighting.

There are a couple of scuffs on the shifters and the Moron Tubing (More-on the ends) decal is a little messed up. I believe that you can get a new decal from Chuck Ibis if you want.

The bicycle’s geometry is shown in the images from the 1999 Ibis catalog. Top tube: 55.5cm, Seat tube 54cm.

The bike is light for a vintage steel bike. 19.2 lbs on the bathroom scale.
